Chasing dreams and embrace Hainan

In the early 2014, the big event of China capital market is the expansion of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Stock Transfer System (NEEQ).
In terms of listing time, 260 enterprises will be listed on NEEQ include Hainan ZOSE Cultural Communication CO., LTD. And ZOSE will be the 1st NEEQ listing corporation in Hainan.
Before the listing, we had an interview on Mr. Liu Wenjun, the Chairman of HainanZOSE Cultural Communication Co., LTD. We talked about culture, listing, futures and dream-chasing life of a cultural merchant in his artistic office.
 
Cultural dream of a Hainan fighter
In 1988, the news of founding Hainan Special economic zone inspired lots youngsters, they moved towards south with deep dreams, and they have a common name---the Hainan fighter and Mr. Liu Wenjun is among them.
Like millions of Hainan fighters, the first problem he had to solve is how to survive on only 175 Yuan. Therefore, he used to be a journalist, salesman, CD venders. After he earned the first pot of gold of his life he found the ZOSE Advertising Co., Ltd.
The first dream of Liu is to make advertising a respectable business. In nowadays society, advertising is a business with popularity, and advertiser gained deserving respect. Nevertheless, it’s completely different in 1990s, sign boards with Advertiser and sales are forbidden can be seen everywhere. At the time, Liu dedicated to change this phenomenon, he told himself that he must acquire respect with professional works.
At the beginning of startup, the team which was led by Liu Wenjun broke the ice with their persistence of creativity. The Sundiro motorcycle and Mazda became their fist customers. The slogan of “five seats+ two seat, work + life” which created for Premacy  once made a hit in nationwide, and also won the Golden Phrase Award. In 2002, ZOSE entered China Top 100 Advertising Corporation as the only winner in Hainan.
By now, ZOSE Advertising already became well-known brand and well-regarded whole case service company, Liu Wenjun’s first dream had realized.   
In 2002, the opera Red Detachment of Women which was introduced by ZOSE Advertising created great sensation and became the hot spot of that year. The enthusiasm of Hainan people inspired Liu Wenjun had the second dream.
Letting the citizens watch top performances of domestic and oversea in Haikou became his second dream. In Nov, 2003, the ZOSE Cultural Communication Co., Ltd was established as it was required.
Ideal is plentiful, reality is skinny. The marketizing of high-end art is worldwide difficulties, let alone in this low consumption and low cultural base Haikou.
Liu Wenjun calculated for us--- If Hainan going to sponsored a performance,  the cost include transportation, prop and rental fee is 50% higher than in mainland, sometimes the total income of a national level performance is only thousands yuan. To solve this problem, ZOSE made out a pattern of “Three in One” that is government gives more subsidies, box office makes more incomes, and corporations sponsor more. Through this type of innovation,Haikou performance industry went into developing pathway. ZOSE Cultural Communication has introduced more than 300 performances, meanwhile, accelerated the prosperity of Hainan performance market by leading other cultural companies.  
 
Four sections of business
After 10 years of accumulation, Liu Wenjun attempted to develop in diversify but still kept cultural communication as his major business. In cultural aspect, ZOSE formed four sectors: advertising agency, performance management and opera house operation, cinema chains, self-owned media operation.
Among them, cinema chains are new section. Building a nation widely known cinema chains became his third dream.   
“Cinema chains are going to be the most potential business in ZOSE Cultural Communication” Liu said confidently.  In 2011, ZOSE decided to make cinema chains as its major business in future, and the first ZOSE cinema was opened in Jul. 2012, also it is the first five-star cinema in western Hainan. On Jan. 6th, Haikou ZOSE International Cinema, the first IMAX theater in Haikou started business, the Sanya International Cinema will be open up in July.
As for the film industry, Liu Wenjun has his own prediction. In decades, the film industry experienced a rapid growth; the average annual growth of box office income is 33.9%. In the next decade, it might keep growth because the blank of less developed city market. Based on this, he carried out “three steps in five-year” strategy that is to build up 10 more cinemas and 60 more screens in five years both in Hainan and mainland. Expected income might reach 40billion yuan.
The new opened Haikou ZOSE International Cinema brought him confidence. He said that the cinema receipted 3000 audiences only at the first day of opening, then kept with 1800 everyday and it shows the high potential of film industry.
 
The fist NEEQ listed cultural company
On Jan. 24th, Liu wenjun will attend listing ceremony which is going to hold in Beijing. Saying of listing, Liu Wenjun said “The opportunity always for who prepares”
As to the NEEQ’s future, Liu Wenjun said that NEEQ is a platform of middle and small sized corporation. Comparing to the IPO, the NEEQ has lower doorsill in income scale and profit index, but has the same demand in standardization. Thus, it gives opportunity to the standardized medium and small sized corporations. The expansion of NEEQ is far more than the IPO, and the NEEQ is regarded as Chinese Nasdaq and a rich ore in investment. Meanwhile, the NEEQ also has flexible rules as providing opportunity of turn into IPO, so it deserves to be expected.
In the promotion event of listing, Liu Wenjun concluded four phrase “Inheriting culture and building spiritual homeland. Chasing for the dreams, deeply embrace Hainan” He explained the former two phrases are slogan of ZOSE Cultural Communication, and the latter two expresses the Hainan complex. As a Hainan fighter, he deeply rooted in Hainan for 26 years. Although the youth is gone, the dream never changes.
